94.5Kfm and Drostdy-Hof bring you a double bill of Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels and Goldfish for their annual New Year’s Eve concert.
Dr Victor and The Rasta RebelsTwo decades of performing and one of the busiest bands on circuit make Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels one of the most familiar groups around. Victor Khojane, or Dr Victor, has been crafting an uplifting, up-tempo sound earning this singer, musician, songwriter and producer an enviable reputation locally and internationally.
A mixture of Afro pop, R&B and reggae have seen this group backing Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Paul Simon, Lucky Dube and Tina Turner. Expect to enjoy some of their own compositions on newly released album New Flame which sports a first - an Afrikaans track done with Theuns Jordaan cheekily entitled ‘Wie Se Kind Is Jy?’ as well as a Jewish track called ‘Raksmor’ sung entirely in Hebrew.
GoldfishOne of the most exciting live electronica acts in the world right now is Goldfish. Two Jazz musos hook up while studying music at varsity, and form a live electronic duo. This is Dominic Peters and David Poole, the unassuming surfer/jazz muso/electronic maniacs that are Goldfish. They record an album themselves with little more than a double bass, a saxophone and a couple of synthesizers.
This self-released ‘Underground’ album, Caught in the loop, goes on to propel them into the stratosphere, with a cult-like following and numerous number ones in South Africa. You couldn’t find two guys more passionate about music, and their live shows are testament to that.
Brought to you by 94.5Kfm and Drostdy-Hof.
